Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery recently visited Safran Helicopter Engines Ltd in his constituency to tour the facility and speak to staff and managers.
The company based in Concorde Way, Segensworth, employs 165 people and is a world leading manufacturer of helicopter engines.
George met with the chief executive, Nicholas Earl, and was shown what the company does.
“This was a very interesting visit to a big employer in the Meon Valley who are very much at the cutting edge of their work,” said George.
“I was particularly impressed by their helicopter engine storage facility where engines are dispatched to customers who simply pull out the old one and insert the new unit.
“It was also clear from speaking to staff that this is a good company to work for as many had up to 40 years’ service.
“Safran is just the type of company the UK needs to nurture as we move toward leaving the EU. The British aerospace industry is world class and in great demand and will offer great opportunities for research and development, jobs and exports in the years to come.”
The company has recently been accepted onto the Government’s Sharing in Growth programme, which helps with training and development to raise the capability of UK aerospace suppliers and gain a bigger foothold in the global aerospace market.
