George met with representatives of a number of Hampshire organisations who were taking part in 'The Time is now' lobby day in Westminster. Co-ordinated by the Climate Coalition and Greener UK, George met with representatives of Winchester Action on Climate Change, Catherington WI and Oxfram to discuss the dangers we face from climate change and the impact on nature and people.
Among the issues raised, George discussed the government's anouncement of a legally binding net zero target to end the UK's contribution to global warming entirely by 2050.
"Climate change is the most pressing issue we face as a country and planet. It was good to meet with such a diverse group and chat through the best ways to address this problem. In the next few years, we are going to face some really tough choices if we are going to get to grips with this.
I'm grateful to everyone who took the time to come to Westminster and meet with me."
