Yarl's Wood #HungerForFreedom Campaign

Ensuring that individuals abide by immigration rules is an essential part of an effective immigration system. This includes individuals leaving the UK if they have no lawful basis to remain.

Israel Apartheid Week

I would like to make it clear that I condemn all acts of antisemitism in the strongest possible terms. Any discrimination or hostility based on religion or race is deplorable and there is no place for it in our society.

Plastic Free Parliament

Without urgent action to cut demand, plastic production is likely to reach 34 billion tonnes by 2050, the majority of which will end up in landfill or polluting the world's continents and oceans. Re-using and recycling plastics is critical.

Fireworks

I appreciate the concern residents have about the use of fireworks. While many people enjoy their use on special occasions I know others do not like them. Fireworks can of course be very dangerous and I am glad the use and sale of them is controlled.

Paradise Papers

I completely agree that it is right to take decisive action to tackle tax avoidance and evasion, to ensure we have a fair tax system where everyone plays by the rules.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is a personal choice for each woman to make and not all mothers are able to or choose to breast feed.

Closure of Childcare Vouchers Scheme

I share the belief that childcare is a vital provision that helps children and families across this country. I am glad that the Government is investing more in childcare than ever before.

Animals as Living Beings

I am proud that the UK has some of the highest animal welfare standards in the world. Ministers have been clear that they intend it to remain world-leading in the future and, as a minimum, to retain our existing standards of animal welfare once we have left the EU.

Mental Health

Tackling poor mental health is a priority and Ministers have legislated to treat it with the same importance as physical health.
